Genesis 9:12-17 NLT
Then God said, “I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come. 13 I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. 14 When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, 15 and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life. 16 When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.” 17 Then God said to Noah, “Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth.”
After the flood the Lord saw everything that the earth went through and He had to make sure that His wrath would not take place again on earth. So God gives us a covenant that He will never destroy the earth again. Even thou He knew that we will continue to sin. Covenant means a mutual consent or agreement of two or more persons, to do or to forbear some act or thing; a contract; stipulation. God loves us so much that He gives humans a chance to join Him in heaven.
The sign that The Lord God gives us is a rainbow. The original word is bow in the King James Version which in the strong is qesheth which is in Hebrew. In the original sense of bending; a bow, for shooting (hence figuratively strength) or the iris: - X arch (-er), + arrow, bow ([-man, -shot]). If we look closely to the word of God, it's say in Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. So in English was later translated to rainbow.
The Rainbow is the sign that we can appreciate cause God to this day at time we can see His goodness because of the sign He gives us in the clouds. We should be grateful towards God when His wonderful sign comes from in the clouds. This alone show that God is greater than us in every way. He is the answer to the question that we face, and He doesn't give up on trying with us. He wants us to turn to Him even when we are far away. Let His covenant be a reminder to you on how great He is. Praise His name when you look up and see that great promise that He has keep for all this time.

Entonces Dios dijo: «Les doy una señal de mi pacto con ustedes y con todas las criaturas vivientes, para todas las generaciones futuras. 13 He puesto mi arco iris en las nubes. Esa es la señal de mi pacto con ustedes y con toda la tierra. 14 Cuando envíe nubes sobre la tierra, el arco iris aparecerá en las nubes 15 y yo me acordaré de mi pacto con ustedes y con todas las criaturas vivientes. Nunca más las aguas de un diluvio volverán a destruir a todos los seres vivos. 16 Cuando yo vea el arco iris en las nubes, me acordaré del pacto eterno entre Dios y toda criatura viviente sobre la tierra». 17 Entonces Dios le dijo a Noé: «Este arco iris es la señal del pacto que yo confirmo con todas las criaturas de la tierra».
Después del diluvio el Señor vio todo lo que pasó la tierra y tuvo que asegurarse de que Su ira no volviera a tener lugar sobre la tierra. Entonces Dios nos da el pacto de que nunca más destruirá la tierra. Incluso tú sabía que continuaríamos pecando. Pacto significa un consentimiento o acuerdo mutuo de dos o más personas para realizar o abstenerse de algún acto o cosa; un contrato; estipulación. Dios nos ama tanto que les da a los humanos la oportunidad de unirse a Él en el cielo.
La señal que nos da el Señor Dios es un arco iris. La palabra original es arco en la versión King James, que en fuerte es qesheth que está en hebreo. En el sentido original de doblarse; un arco, para disparar (de ahí en sentido figurado fuerza) o el iris: - X arco (-er), + flecha, arco ([-man, -shot]). Si miramos de cerca la palabra de Dios, dice en Génesis 9:13 Yo puse mi arco en la nube, y será por señal de pacto entre yo y la tierra. Así que en inglés se tradujo más tarde a arcoíris.
El Arco Iris es la señal que podemos apreciar porque Dios hasta el día de hoy podemos ver Su bondad por la señal que nos da en las nubes. Deberíamos estar agradecidos con Dios cuando Su señal maravillosa viene de entre las nubes. Esto por sí solo muestra que Dios es más grande que nosotros en todos los sentidos. Él es la respuesta a la pregunta que enfrentamos y no deja de intentarlo con nosotros. Él quiere que recurramos a Él incluso cuando estamos lejos. Deja que Su pacto te recuerde lo grande que es Él. Alabado sea Su nombre cuando mires hacia arriba y veas esa gran promesa que Él ha cumplido durante todo este tiempo.
